Letter To Congress; GMO's

Hello my congressman:

This week the huffingpost printed that a study linked Monsanto's GMO Corn To Organ Failure. These products (gmo's) are not 100% totally proven safe; infact our failure to separate them from traditional crops is costing the US alot of potential revenue in exports as many nations continue to ban GMO's.

The examiner printed:

The Food and Drug Administration is moving against companies that label their food products 'Hormone free' and 'No GMOs' (Genetically Modified Organism). Among the reasons given by the FDA for this labeling ban are that the extra labeling 'confuses the consumer',
'make it harder for them to make their choices', 'don't really tell the consumer anything more' and, in the case
of GMO foods 'it implies there is something wrong with genetically engineered food.'

Also this week the FDA is reviewing genetically modified salmon; which will probably get approval. Although non of these products are proven safe, non have been proven harmful either. On July 29, 2008 Dennis Kucinich introduced H.R. 6636: "The Genetically Engineered Food Right to Know Act", still today it has never been to the House. This would give more power to the consumer to decide what is acceptable risk when consuming newly engineered food products; and potentially strengthen the worlds confidence in purchasing crops from America. Currently, corn is handled like corn, with no distinction if it's genetically modified or not.

If you are re-elected, would you vote for such a bill if it ever did come to the house? Would you consider sponsoring something similar?
