Michael C. Burgess Doesn't Understand Protectip

.
Thank you for contacting me regarding S. 968, the Preventing Real Online Threats to Economic Creativity and Theft of Intellectual Property (PROTECT IP) Act of 2011. I appreciate hearing from you on this matter.

As you know, S. 968 was introduced by Senator Patrick Leahy on May 12, 2011. If signed into law, S. 968 would narrow the definition of rogue website while ensuring that law enforcement can get at the most egregious websites. S. 968 will also provide law enforcement with various tools to combat rouge websites.

There has not yet been corresponding legislation introduced in the House of Representatives. Should such legislation be introduced, I assure you that I will keep your opinions in mind.

Again, thank you for taking the time to contact me. I appreciate having the opportunity to represent you in the U.S. House of Representatives. Please feel free to visit my website (www.house.gov/burgess) or contact me with any future concerns.

Sincerely,
Michael C. Burgess, M.D.
US Member of Congress
