Phil Gingrey Supports ISP Spying .. H.R. 1981

.
Thank you for contacting me to express your opinion regarding H.R. 1981, the Protecting Children from Internet Pornographers Act of 2011. As your Congressman, I appreciate hearing your thoughts and welcome every opportunity to be of service.

As you may know, H.R. 1981 was introduced by Representative Lamar Smith (R-TX) on May 25, 2011, and was subsequently referred to the House Committee on the Judiciary, where it awaits further action. If enacted, it would require Internet Service Providers (ISP) to retain subscriber information to assist law enforcement officials investigating alleged criminal activities. Additionally, H.R. 1981 makes it a federal crime to facilitate the sale, distribution and purchase of child pornography.

As a father of four and grandfather of ten, the fight against child pornography is especially near to my heart. While I am not a member of the Judiciary Committee, please be assured that I will keep your thoughts in mind should H.R. 1981 come before the full House for a vote.

Again, thank you for sharing your concerns. If you feel that I may be of additional assistance on this, or any other matter of importance to you, please do not hesitate to contact me.
